What is the best place to sit in Radio City Music Hall? ›

The first half of the Mezzanine Level, through row D or E, also provides a great vantage point for any show. For music fans, looking for the best sound, the Pit and Orchestra seats are the best options, as the sound can get a little bit dispersed in the Mezzanine Level.

If you want to see the show from a unique perspective as Radio City transforms into a immersive, magical wonderland and get an up-close view of the Rockettes, look for tickets in the Orchestra. Want to have a great view of the Great Stage? Find tickets located in the First Mezzanine.

The venue contains seating for up to 5,960 for spectators. With additional seating available for certain events, bringing the capacity up to more than 6,000. Just over half these seats are located on the main ground floor, with the remainder distributed throughout the three mezzanine levels.

Every seat at Radio City is a great seat; there are no obstructed views of the stage. An architectural outlier for its time, Radio City's three mezzanine levels were designed and constructed without the need for columns and support beams commonly seen in other early 20th-century theaters.

What does obstructed view mean? It means you'll have either an incomplete view or something will be in your line of sight because of the position of the seats — like a pole, speakers or the sound board — and you won't be able to see the entire stage.

I have been to New York at least a dozen times and had never gone to this show... what a mistake! I cannot say enough good things. Great sound, great visuals, great costumes, 3D, a live orchestra, live animals, a HD video screen as big and as clear as IMAX, and of course the Rockettes who were simply perfect.

1st Mezzanine: The Sweet Spot

The 1st mezzanine is often considered the sweet spot for the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. The elevated view allows you to see the full stage, including the elaborate dance routines and stunning special effects.

The best seats in the Radio City Music Hall depend on the show you choose. For most shows, the first 8-10 rows in the center Orchestra, most of the Pit section, and the front few rows of the center First Mezzanine usually offer the best views of the stage.

CAN I WEAR A COSTUME? Radio City Music Hall does not have a formal dress code. We do ask, however, that you use your best personal judgment when dressing for the Christmas Spectacular.

Samuel “Roxy” Rothafel was a prominent theater operator and an early advisor and advocate of Radio City Music Hall. When the theater was being built, a secret Art Deco apartment hidden inside the theater was created for the impresario.

Radio City Music Hall asks all guests to arrive early and travel light. Bags do not have to be clear, but they must fit comfortably under your seat. Oversized bags larger than 22” x 14” x 9” are prohibited. Radio City Music Hall does not provide an area to check bags, coats or any other personal belongings.

This can mean, e.g., a visual obstruction caused by production technology, such as a structure of the sound system, a stage element or a side view to the stage. Visibility can also be obstructed due to the structures of the venue itself, such as railings or poles.

Alluded to in their name, premium seats are usually regarded as the best seats in the theatre. Often, they're not the closest seats to the stage. Typically, premium seats are a few rows back from the stage in the middle of the row, allowing audience members to see the entire stage without missing any action.

The most balanced sound in the hall is usually in the center of the hall. If you are looking for the purest sound, this area would be a great place to look! If you are looking for a seat closer to the stage, some parts of the orchestra will be more prominent.
